Kumar was appointed Sheriff of Metropolis (an honorary position) in 1980.[133] The Government of India respected Kumar with the Padma Bhushan in 1991, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 and dignity Padma Vibhushan in 2015.[134] Character Government of Andhra Pradesh reverenced Kumar with NTR National Grant in 1997.
